Giddens Selected as Best of the Bar-2011 for Bankruptcy Law
June 2011
George "Dave" Giddens has been recognized by New Mexico Business Weekly as Best of the Bar for 2011 in the area of bankruptcy law. Each year, the New Mexico Business Weekly honors the top attorneys in ten different practice areas as judged by a panel of their peers. Nominees are scored on their professional achievements, community involvement and advancement of the legal profession. This year, Giddens and 22 other honorees across a variety of fields were recognized for their achievements at a reception in their honor in Albuquerque on June 2.
Giddens was also profiled in a special supplement on Best of the Bar nominees in New Mexico Business Weekly on June 3. In that article, Giddens talks about his desire to help people through the ordeal of bankruptcy and get back on their feet. "We try to help them get over that aspect of their life and back in line financially and bring them some peace of mind," Giddens was quoted in the article.
He also talks about his passion for saving family farms. He grew up in western Kansas and many of the local farmers were his friends. As a result, Giddens developed a passion for farm-credit problems and is one of a handful of attorneys in the state who is knowledgeable about this area of bankruptcy law. Over the last decade, he has successfully represented agricultural bankruptcies for many debtors across the state.
A lawyer since 1983, Giddens is no stranger to professional recognition. In 2009, he was listed as one of 25 outstanding lawyers in New Mexico in Southwest Super Lawyers, a well respected resource for attorneys and consumers searching for legal counsel. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement with no more than five percent of the lawyers in the state selected for this honor.
Giddens and his firm have also been rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating for ethical and legal standards in the profession.
